I am writing to you as a constituent to invite you to the attend the Alcohol Change UK drop-in for Alcohol Awareness Week on Wednesday 5 July. The event is sponsored by Christian Wakeford MP and Dan Carden MP.

It will be from 1pm-5pm in Room R in Portcullis House after PMQs and you can drop in at any point during this time.

At the drop-in, you’ll be able to pick up an information pack for your constituency office on signposting, and local stats and data on alcohol harm. There will also be a photo opportunity to show your support for those affected by alcohol harm this Alcohol Awareness Week. Alcohol Change UK will be joined by stands from Adfam about alcohol harm and its impact on families and the Alcohol Health Alliance and Institute for Alcohol Studies. All MPs will be given a goodie bag with non-alcoholic drinks and mocktails to take away.

The harm caused by alcohol affects millions of people every year in the form of health problems, financial worries, relationship breakdown and family difficulties. It brings with it huge social costs too with the significant pressure it places on the NHS, the emergency services, police, and workplaces.

As your constituent, I would appreciate if you could attend the drop-in to discuss alcohol harm and how to tackle this growing issue – both nationally and in our local area.
