New alcohol duty system - ask your MP to attend the debate

New alcohol duty system - ask your MP to attend the debate

Alcohol duty contributes around £12 billion per year to the public purse - less than half the £27 billion estimated annual cost of alcohol harm.

The Government are currently considering changes to the way alcohol is taxed and, on Thursday 7 July, there is an opportunity for MPs to debate the proposed changes.

We want to make sure that alcohol duty and the impact that it can have on alcohol harm is raised in the debate – in front of important Government ministers.

Can you send our briefing for the debate to your MP and ask them to attend the debate to raise points around how the price of alcohol can be an effective way of reducing harm?
