As the 2026 Dry January® challenge approaches, we’re asking supporters to invite their MP to join us in Parliament on Wednesday 7 January 2026.

The Dry January® challenge, created and run by Alcohol Change UK, returns for our annual parliamentary reception, hosted by Liz Twist MP. This is a great opportunity for your MP to learn more about the Dry January® challenge, understand Alcohol Change UK’s work, and show support for constituents who want to make positive changes to their relationship with alcohol.

We have included some text you can use below, but please insert your own reasons why it's important  that they take an interest in reducing alcohol harm. The more personal you make it the more likely they will take note – but please only include what you’re comfortable with.

  • Make your email personal – if you’re comfortable with doing so, add your personal stories and experiences. This will help your MP understand why it is so important to take action.
  • Be polite - keep your email polite and respectful.
  • Be clear - make sure your email is clear and concise, as that makes it much easier to read.
